When Your Bank is More Expensive Than a Check Cashing Company..

It sure seems like it's open season on the poor out here in Texas. Why do I say that? Well, because the rich are becoming even more rich using exploitative and predatory practices and they are getting away with it. I don't blame the greedy bastards though.. They are only doing what greedy bastards do which is find a way, "any" way to make a buck. No matter how morally depraved or demeaning; and the good ol'boys out here in Texas have written the laws full of loopholes to make sure they get away with it.

Shame on you Texas.

This morning I noticed a charge of $9.95 on my bank statement which is sent to me via email everyday. What on earth was this charge for? I called up my bank, --- National Bank, and was informed that the $283.00 check I deposited yesterday...well, they said they had to charge me for a basic deposit. WOW. Not only am I paying 9.95 per month to have this account which is a second chance account, they are also charging me for any deposit I make other than direct deposit.

In a fit of anger I called the customer service line and demanded my check back and told them I would go to a check casher. There are plenty of check cashers in Texas who only charge 1-2% to cash a check. I am upset. Yes. I willingly took out this bank account because I had fallen on hard times and I am paying off a debt with my old bank. So that makes me a "Second Chance" customer. I opened the account in September of 2011 and here it is April of 2012 and my bank has charged me $9.95 per month for a total of $80.00. So today I will be closing my account. For good. I simply can no longer afford to keep the account open.

No wonder --- National Bank does second chance banking. With fees like this they are nothing more than a check cashing company and not a really competitive one either.

Good Riddance....
